Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) will be hosting the first Volunteer Advisory Committee meeting for the Rosebud Battlefield State Park Management Plan on Wednesday, January 17, 2007.   The meeting will be held from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the FWP Headquarters in Billings, 2300 Lake Elmo Drive.

The Volunteer Advisory Committee (VAC) is part of a comprehensive group who will provide input towards drafting a new management plan.   The VAC members are by invitation only; however, the public is welcome to attend the meeting.

Rosebud Battlefield State Park is the site of the 1876 Battle of Rosebud Creek between U.S. Army troops and Native American forces, and preceded General Custer’s fate at the Battle of Little Bighorn by eight days. This 3,052-acre park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Additional information about the project can be found on the FWP web page under State Parks (www.fwp.mt.gov) or by contacting Sue Dalbey, State Parks Planner at 406-444-3764.
