FWP seeks information about deer poached east of Opheim

Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking information about a poaching incident east of Opheim last Saturday in which a white-tailed deer was shot and killed just off Highway 248.

According to Warden Derek Fagone, the young buck was shot with a small-caliber bullet and left to die in a field about 150 yards off the road.

“This was just an opportunistic, wasteful killing that should disgust Montana’s sportsmen,” says Fagone. “Any information that can help us solve this case is important because the person who shot this deer may have the opportunity to repeat the crime.”

Call Montana’s poaching hotline, 1-800-TIP-MONT or contact Fagone at FWP’s Glasgow office, 228-3717, with any information on the case. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
