Applications are now available for tentatively approved tundra swan hunting permits for the 2006-07 season.

In the Pacific Flyway, which includes Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area near Fairfield, 500 permits are proposed for swan hunting in Cascade, Chouteau, Toole, Liberty, Hill and those portions of Teton and Pondera counties east of U.S. Highway 287 from Augusta to Choteau and U.S. Highway 89 from Choteau to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The season is expected to run Oct. 14–Dec. 1.

An additional 500 permits are proposed for the Central Flyway portion of the state. The season is expected to run Sept. 30 –Jan 4, 2007.

Hunters may apply for a swan permit in only one flyway.

Applications, which must be received or postmarked by Sept. 8, are available at all FWP offices, or visit FWP’s Mail-In Licensing web page.

Completed application forms and a $5 drawing fee must be sent to: License Section, Swan Drawing, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701.
