The third annual Blackfoot River cleanup is planned for Sat., July 29 th , 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

The event is open to the public, and those interested should meet at Bob and Marietta Pfister’s on 3898 Rainbow Bend Drive, approximately eight miles east of Bonner.

Participants can walk, wade, float, or snorkel to pick up trash.   Volunteers with boats are needed to help carry cleanup participants down the river.

The Pfister’s, in cooperation with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and the Bureau of Land Management, organized the first cleanup on the river’s lower section in 2004.   The event is part of a larger effort to keep the river corridor clean and safe.

To reach the cleanup site, travel east on Hwy 200 from the I-90 Bonner exit. Between mile markers eight and nine watch for a sign for the cleanup location and turn just before a group of five mailboxes. A barbeque will be held at the Pfister’s following the event, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The cleanup is sponsored by FWP, Blackfoot Home & Community Club, BLM and Grizzly Aquatic & Scuba. For more information, call 244-5442.
