State-Fish Art Winners Selected

STATE-FISH ART WINNERS SELECTED  

The winners have been selected for a local State-Fish Art competition sponsored by Snappy Sport Senter, Flathead Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.   Students grades 4 through 12 submitted artwork and written compositions on the Montana state fish, the cutthroat trout.   The entries were judged by local arts Allen Jimmerson, Alan Richter and art restoration expert Joe Abbrescia.   There were almost 100 entries spanning from Plains to Eureka.   The winners are:

Grades 4-5-6 

1.                   Britta Wallner, Grade 5, Kalispell

2.                   Benjamin Moon, Grade 4, Kalispell

3.                   Jacob Kunz, Grade 4, Kalispell             

Honorable Mention 

            Jordan Danz, Grade 4, Bigfork

            Courtney Dickinson, Grade 6, Trego

            Tim Powell, Grade 4, Bigfork

Grades 7-8-9 

1.                   Colter Dickinson, Grade 9, Trego

2.                   Greta Todhunter, Grade 7, Whitefish

3.                   Aaron Shay, Grade 8, Columbia Falls 

Grades 10-11-12 

1.                   Dane Steward, Grade 12, Plains

2.                   Brynn Shay, Grade 10, Columbia Falls

There were so many outstanding entries in grades 4-6 the judges elected to award some honorable mention awards.   All the winners will receive ribbons and gift certificates to Snappys. 

The entries have all been forwarded to the national competition in Minnesota sponsored by Wildlife Forever.   In 2004, Todhunter and Dickinson won national honors for Montana, Dickinson for the second year in a row.
