Bowhunter Education Classes Set for Yellowstone County

Bowhunter Education classes in Yellowstone County have been finalized and will get underway at the Billings Rod & Gun Club the week of March 7 and the Laurel Rod & Gun Club the week of March 14.

Those wishing to hunt any big game during an "Archery Only" season must either produce a bow and arrow license from a previous year (any previous year and any state is acceptable) or show proof of completing a Bowhunter Education course. All bowhunters born after January 1, 1985 must also show proof of completing a hunter education program

All classes, registrations and field courses are held at the Billings Rod & Gun Club, with the exception of Laurel. This class, registration and field course is taught at the Laurel Rod & Gun Club in Riverside Park. All registrations are Monday 6:30 –7:30 p.m. the week before class work begins. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., and field courses are taught on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Additionally, there will be two weekend classes.

The schedule is as follows: Registration Monday, March 7 for the Laurel class with classes held March 14-18 and field course Saturday, March 19. Registration for the first Billings course will be Monday, February 28 with classes held March 7-11 and field course Saturday, March 12. Additional Billings courses include: Registration Monday, April 4 with classes and field course held April 11-16. Registration Monday, May 2 with classes and field course held May 9-14.   Registration Monday, June 6 for classes and field course held June 13-18.

Registration for the first weekend class will be Monday, June 20.   Classes will be held Friday, June 24 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The field course will be held Sunday, June 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The second weekend class registration will be Monday, July 11 for classes and field course July 15-17.
