The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission acted unanimously today to lower the daily and possession limits of yellow perch in Canyon Ferry. Effective Feb. 14, 2005, the daily and possession limit will be 15 for yellow perch.

The previous limit was 50 per day with no possession limit.

"The 2005 Montana Fishing Regulations have already been printed and do not show this change, so we will post signs at public access points to the lake and at local bait shops," said Bruce Rich, Regional Fisheries Program Manager in Bozeman.

A reduction in the perch limits was recommended by FWP to protect dwindling numbers of perch in the reservoir where they are a vital forage and sport fish.
