FWP’s new Automated Licensing System issued more than 1.3 million licenses to hunters and anglers in 2002.   During the peak license sales period through Oct. 26, when the general deer and elk hunting season opens, FWP advises license buyers to purchase licenses early and to allow extra time.

“FWP’s Automated Licensing System has been online for one year,” said Ron Aasheim, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Conservation Education administrator. “ALS has made licensing faster and more efficient overall, but delays can occur, especially when the volume of customers buying licenses increases sharply near an application deadline.”

Aasheim said that in an overwhelming majority of cases the license buying process is smooth, but allowing a little extra time makes the process more relaxed for everyone.
