Applications are due by Sept. 5 for tundra swan hunting permits for the 2003 season. In the Pacific Flyway, which includes Freezeout Lake Wildlife Management Area near Fairfield, 500 permits will be offered for swan hunting in Cascade, Chouteau, Toole, Liberty, Hill and the portions of Teton and Pondera counties east of U.S. Highway 287 from Augusta to Choteau and U.S. Highway 89 from Choteau to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. An additional 500 permits are available for the Central Flyway portion of the state. Hunters may apply for a swan permit in both the Pacific and Central flyways. Swan hunters may also participate in the bonus-point system this year. Applications, which must be received or postmarked by Sept. 5, are available at all FWP regional offices and on the FWP home page at www.fwp.state.mt.us under "2003 License Info."
