The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission set the final moose, sheep and goat quotas for the 2003 seasons, with few changes from the tentative quotas set in May.

Moose:    The FWP Commission approved the tentative moose quotas as final, including increases in antlerless moose permits in hunting districts 323-10 and 340-10.   The tentative proposal to reduce moose quotas in six FWP Region 3 hunting districts was also approved.   In a clarification, final quotas for hunting district 105-00 should read “20 either sex licenses” and for hunting district 122-00 it should read “6 either sex licenses.”

Bighorn Sheep:    The FWP Commission approved the tentative recommendations as final with two notable changes: an increase in hunting district 122-30 from two to eight ewe licenses and a decrease in hunting district 210-00 from 10 either sex licenses to four.   One clarification was made: the final quota for hunting district 124-00 is seven either sex bighorn sheep licenses.

The tentative mountain goat quotas were approved as final with no changes.

For details on the final moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat quotas and hunting regulations go to the FWP home page at www.fwp.state.mt.us and click on Hunting and then click on the Interactive Hunt Planner icon.   Hunting regulations are available from most license providers and all FWP offices.
