Take A Virtual Tour Of Montana’s State Parks

Now the whole family can participate in choosing which State Park to visit next by taking an Internet tour of Montana State Parks. Go to the FWP home page at www.fwp.state.mt.us   and click on Parks and Recreation and then on Planning a Visit.

This ‘virtual tour’ is an entertaining activity for kids and adults, with about 50 scenic shots of the parks and details on the facilities and features of every site.   Taking the trip requires no packing and it’s only a mouse click away.

A series of trivia statements provide clues to lead visitors on the tour. The goal is to select the correct park from among the four or five full-color photos that illustrate each clue. Here are some of the clues:

·         The very first State Park in Montana was named in 1937, but it took millions of years to form the geological features located there.

·         The largest State Park in Montana is 11,531 acres.   It is home to approximately 60 large buzzards each summer and many large fossils too! ·         The adobe and log remains at this State Park preserve the site of the first permanent white settlement in Montana.

·         This 2,000-acre island State Park was used by the Salish-Kootenai Indians to pasture horses to keep them from being stolen by other tribes.
