FWP’s new Automated Licensing System faces one of the year’s peak license sales periods between now and Oct. 27 when the general deer and elk hunting season opens. FWP advises license buyers to plan to purchase licenses early and to allow extra time. "We’ve upgraded the software and the capacity to handle the traffic we’re anticipating, but this is still a new system and unexpected things can happen, " said Ron Aasheim, FWP Conservation Education division administrator. "If license buyers come early and allow some extra time, they can help make sure things go smoothly through this peak time." When the new licensing system was introduced earlier this year, technical glitches caused delays. It is anticipated that hardware and software upgrades will reduce or eliminate technical problems that emerged during earlier peak periods. "When license buyers come early, instead of waiting for the deadline, fewer people are affected at any one time if there is a delay," Aasheim said. The new automated system offers a number of benefits, including greater privacy for the license buyer and quick reporting of license sales statistics.
