Handling archery equipment safely, wildlife conservation, tree-stand safety, laws, ethics and sportsmanship will be some of the topics covered in a Bowhunter Education class offered for adult women.  The class, to be held at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer, will begin Friday, June 21 at noon and run to Sunday afternoon, June 23.

Participants will have an opportunity to shoot bows and arrows and take part in field exercises simulating a hunting experience.  Most of the class will be spent outdoors participating in hands-on learning exercises.

This International Bowhunter Education class will be taught by certified Bowhunter Education instructors and is sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" program.  Participants will receive their Bowhunter Education certificates upon successful completion of the class.  A certificate is required of anyone purchasing an archery stamp in Montana, and the certification is also accepted by other states and provinces.

A small fee will be charged to cover food and lodging for the weekend.  Participants will stay in the new Wildlife Conservation Center at the ranch.  For further information and a registration form, call Liz Lodman at FWP in Helena at (406) 444-2615 or e-mail her at:  llodman@state.mt.us.  The registration deadline is June 1 st .
