Women's Bowhunter Education Workshop Offered

Women interested in archery hunting this fall or in learning more about bow hunting are invited to attend a weekend Bowhunter Education class for adult women June 21 – 23. The class will cover handling archery equipment safely, wildlife conservation, tree-stand safety, laws, ethics and sportsmanship.

During the class, which begins Friday at noon and concludes Sunday afternoon, participants will have an opportunity to shoot bows and arrows and take part in field exercises simulating a hunting experience. Most of the class will be spent outdoors participating in hands-on learning exercises.

Participants will receive their Bow-Hunter Education certificates after successfully completing the class. This certificate is required when purchasing an archery stamp in Montana and is accepted by other states and provinces.

The class will be taught by certified Bow-Hunter Education instructors. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ "Becoming an Outdoors Woman" program will organize the class, which is sponsored by the Montana Bowhunters Association and the Boone & Crockett Club.

The class will be held at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer. Participants will stay in the new Wildlife Conservation Center at the ranch. A registration fee of $100 will cover food and lodging for the weekend. Partial scholarships are available.
