Make the outdoors part of your New Year by participating in FWP’s popular "Becoming an Outdoors Woman" winter workshop. Ice fishing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are some of the "hot" topics covered in the classes being offered Feb. 8-10 at the University of Montana’s Lubrecht Forest, 30 miles east of Missoula off U.S. Highway 200. At the workshop, women may also attend classes on identifying animal tracks, making garments from fur, cooking wild game, fly tying, winter camping and survival. An extension of FWP’s "Becoming an Outdoors Woman" program, the workshops introduce adult women to new outdoor skills and helps to improve the existing skills of those who already pursue some winter outdoor activities. But best of all, the workshops are a fun way to learn skills that could help make the next winter outdoor adventure safer and more enjoyable. For more information on the workshop, or to receive a registration packet, call FWP at (406) 444-3188, or send an email to: llodman@state.mt.us.
