Register Your Snowmobile

Snowmobile owners planning to ride on public land in Montana must remember to register their machines and display current decals.

                 Snowmobiles must be registered and all fees paid to the county treasurer’s office in the county where the owner resides. 

             Half of the decal fee is designated for snowmobile trail development and maintenance, and half is used in enforcing snowmobile laws.

                 Snowmobile owners that ride on state lands are also required to have a state lands use permit that is available at FWP regional offices and any license agent.

Copies of the laws relating to snowmobile use are available at any Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks office.
