FWP Commission To Meet December 13-14 In Helena

            Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet at FWP headquarters in Helena, Dec.13-14.

At Thursday’s meeting, which will begin at 9 a.m., the commission will take final action on the Smith River Rule, commercial fishing regulations, and FWP’s bighorn sheep transplant priorities.  In addition, the commission will consider tentative rules for fishing derbies, snowmobile water skipping, game damage season permit quotas, and spring turkey season quotas.

Also on Thursday, FWP will present information to the commission on Montana’s draft prairie dog plan, but no action will be taken.

On Friday, Dec. 14, at 8 a.m. the commission will review and adopt tentative general big game regulations and hunting district boundaries for 2002.  Included are deer, elk, mountain lion, moose, sheep, goat, antelope and black bear seasons. In addition, tentative upland game bird seasons will be established.

            The meeting will be held at the FWP headquarters in Helena at 1420 East Sixth Ave.
