The State Park Futures Committee II, appointed by Governor Judy Martz, will meet for the first time October 22 and 23 in Helena. The committee of four citizen participants and five legislators is charged by the governor to review the operation, management and program direction of Montana’s State Parks. The group, which will meet four or five times over the next year, will prepare a report with recommendations to the 2003 Legislature. Members of the State Park Futures Committee II are: Michele Reese, Whitefish; Ed Heinrich, Anaconda; Mike Penfold, Billings; Margaret Moddison, Great Falls; Rep. Dave Kasten, R-Brockway; Rep. John Brueggeman, R-Polson; Rep. Christine Kaufmann, D-Helena; Sen. Jim Elliot, D-Trout Creek; and Sen. Bob Keenan, R-Bigfork. During the first meeting the committee will review the work of the first State Park Futures Committee and begin identifying current issues. The meeting will begin on Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. and on Oct. 23 at 8:30 a.m. and will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, 701 Washington, Helena, on both days.
