Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet Thursday, October 11 and Friday, October 12 in Helena at the FWP Headquarters building on 1420 East Sixth Ave., beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday and resuming at 8 a.m. on Friday. Thursday’s work session, which is open to the public, will include informational briefings on the Remedial Hunter Education Program, the planned Automated Licensing System and other licensing issues, sage grouse conservation planning, the adaptive deer management plan, the wolf plan and issues around feeding game animals. During Friday’s session, final decisions will be made on a lease renewal at the Beaver Lake Fishing Access Site near Whitefish and on the amendment of the Bear Creek Angus Ranch Conservation Easement near Bozeman. Other final action will be taken on a planned transplanting of turkeys at Nine-mile near Missoula and on the Cullinan Upland Bird Project, a grazing management system to improve upland bird habitat northeast of Glendive. Tentative decisions will be made on a sheep transplant planned in the Greenhorn area near Alder and on the Smith River portion of the Parks Fee Rule outlining management of the river and related regulations. Informational items will include family fishing issues, a summary of fishing regulation issues and an update on the acquisition of land near Bannack State Park.
