Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment prepared for proposed improvements to the Bluewater Springs Trout Hatchery near Bridger. FWP is generally proposing to improve, renovate, or replace all major facilities at the Bluewater Springs Trout Hatchery. Key elements of the proposed action include protecting Big Bluewater Spring from contamination by whirling disease and to provide for the eventual use of Tillet Spring water in hatchery operations; providing appropriate treatment of hatchery influent and effluent water; replacing undersized indoor rearing troughs and deteriorated outdoor raceways; constructing a new hatchery building to house incubation and rearing troughs; replacing deteriorated piping and valves; and improving the water supply and septic systems serving three staff residences. Copies of the Bluewater Springs Trout Hatchery EA are available from the Fish Hatchery Bureau, Fish, Wildlife & Parks, PO Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701 (406-444-2449). Comments will be accepted through 5 p.m., July 30, 1999.
