Montana Fish, Wildlife and Park’s Internet web site -- fwp.state.mt.us -- again won second place in a national competition among state and federal natural resource agencies. "We recognized several years ago that the Internet would be an important communication tool and a potentially fast and convenient customer service vehicle," said FWP Director Pat Graham. "We think the award again confirms our goal to continually develop an Internet site that is attractive enough to hold a user’s interest, and informative enough to give them a reason to come back." The Association for Conservation Information, a national organization for natural resource information and education professionals, sponsored the competition. FWP’s web site went online in 1996. FWP won a similar award in 1997. FWP staff, and Jim Burton of burtcom, a Helena-based internet production company jointly maintain the site. Internet surfers can find Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks at "fwp.state.mt.us" More than 335 entries from 50 states and federal agencies competed for ACI awards in 24 categories. The winning entry in the Web Site category came from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, with third place going to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. FWP took fourth place in the Video News category and sixth place in the Magazine category. At FWP’s homepage visitors can find information on Fishing, Hunting, Wildlife, Parks, News, Education, and more. There’s a What’s New section and an area where users can download license-application forms and request information.
