Trapping has one of the longest histories of any outdoor activity in Montana. Young trappers will have an opportunity June 23, 24 and 25 to learn about that history, as well as about trapping techniques, furbearer identification, outdoor ethics, fur handling and other important social and biological issues related to trapping. The camp is sponsored by the Montana Trappers Association, in partnership with the 4-H Program and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. The trapping camp will held in the Bear Paw Mountains, south of Havre. The training is primarily geared to young trappers, but adults are welcome. For further information or to register, please contact Jim or Fran Buell, P.O. Box 133, Gildford, MT 59525 (email: 7mbuell@ttc-cmc.net). FWP will offer a $20 scholarship to each of the first 60 young campers that sign up. The full fee is $40 per camper and covers the cost of meals, campsite and facilities for the weekend. Registration is due by April 15 for those applying for a scholarship. The registration deadline is May 15.
