Ice fishing, cross-country skiing and winter survival will be some of the "hot" topics covered in classes being offered this coming February at a winter outdoor skills workshop hosted by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. The workshop is scheduled for February 18-20 at the University of Montana’s Lubrecht Forest, 30 miles east of Missoula off U.S. Highway 200. At the 2-day workshop, women also will learn snowshoeing techniques, winter camping skills, animal identification and be prepared to participate in an avalanche rescue. The workshop, an extension of FWP’s highly popular "Becoming an Outdoors Woman" program, is designed to introduce adult women to new outdoor skills or to improve existing skills of those who already pursue some winter outdoor activities. For more information on the workshop, or to receive a registration packet, call FWP’s Liz Lodman in Helena at (406) 444-2615, or e-mail to: llodman@state.mt.us.
