Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in the FWP Helena office, 1420 East Sixth Ave., Oct. 5-6. The meeting will begin Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. and continue Friday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. The Commission will take final action on several issues including: the decision to take ownership of and administer a conservation easement on over 900 acres of land on the Tongue River Reservoir purchased by the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation; the Western fishing district "no-wake" boating rules; acquisition of the Island Lake Fishing Access Site in northwestern Montana; donation of the Cooper Fishing Access Site on the Bitterroot River; and the expansion of a Fishing Access Site near Lewistown. Tentative rulings will be made on the Beaverhead and Big Hole River Recreation Resource Management Plans; and the nonresident Upland Game Bird Licensing Rule. Also on the agenda are discussions and briefings on Montana’s Prairie Dog Plan, the development of a predator management plan for the state, discussion on potential future acquisitions of lands adjacent to or near existing State Parks and a discussion on the request to extend the northern pike season on the Flathead River.
