Handling firearms safely, wildlife conservation, laws and sportsmanship will be some of the topics covered in a Hunter Education class offered for adult women. The class will be March 30 through April 1 at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer. At the class, which begins Friday at noon and concludes Sunday afternoon, participants will have an opportunity to shoot rifles and shotguns and take part in field exercises simulating a hunting experience. The class is taught by certified Hunter Education instructors and is sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ "Becoming and Outdoors-Woman" program. Participants will receive their Hunter Education certificates upon successful completion of the class. The class is free but a fee of $95 will be charged to cover food and lodging. Participants will stay in the new Wildlife Conservation Center at the ranch. Persons interested in attending should call FWP’s Liz Lodman in Helena at (406) 444-2615 or e-mail her at: llodman@state.mt.us to receive a registration form. The application deadline is March 15th.
