One frequent request heard at Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is for a duplicate Hunter/Bowhunter Education Certificate.  Montana youth must complete hunter and bowhunter education courses and present a Montana-issued education certificate if they are ages 12-17 to purchase any hunting license.  Also, some other states require proof of Hunter Education for adults.

Though hard earned, the certificates are sometimes lost.  The FWP office in Helena alone receives 1,500 requests a year for duplicate certificates.  Whether the certificate was inadvertently washed in the family laundry or the young person’s wallet was lost, FWP’s new online service to generate duplicate certificates will save time.

The service on FWP’s website -- at www.fwp.state.mt.us under Hunting -- makes it quick and easy to get a duplicate education certificate.  The service requires only the hunter’s last name, first name and date of birth.  A duplicate certificate can then be printed on any home printer.  An email message form addressed to FWP will appear to users who input incorrect information so they can request assistance.
