Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission To Meet June 15-16

The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in Helena, June 15, at the Scott Hart Auditorium, 302 North Roberts and June 16, at the FWP headquarters building, 1420 East Sixth. The meetings will begin at 8 a.m. On Thursday, June 15, the Commission will set final moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and mountain lion harvest quotas for the upcoming season; adopt tentative regulations, seasons and quotas for furbearer trapping; and adopt tentative harvest quotas for the deer, elk and antelope hunting seasons and for the fall turkey hunting season. The commission also will set tentative hunting regulations for the webless migratory bird seasons. Among other matters, the commission will take final action on a new River Conflict Policy, and tentative action on a draft rule for a proposed "preference system" that would award bonus points to unsuccessful applicants for special licenses and permits. The commission also is scheduled to discuss northwestern Montana’s proposed Thompson-Fisher Rivers Conservation Easement, the Flathead Lake Co-management Plan, and FWP’s budget. On Friday, June 16, the commission is set to take tentative action on a Water Conflict Draft Rule for western and northwestern Montana lakes, and a proposed Clark Fork River Conservation Easement. The commission also will discuss oil and gas issues at northeastern Montana’s Makoshika State Park and take final action on the Fort Benton Museum lease.
