The Jocko River hatchery has been operated as a rainbow trout broodstock station since the early 1950s. No other species of trout are reared at this facility. The Arlee strain of rainbow trout is used extensively in Fish, Wildlife & Parks management of lakes and reservoirs. Arlee rainbow trout eggs are produced here and are shipped to other Montana state production stations where they are raised for stocking. When available, excess eggs are sold to qualified private growers within the State of Montana each year. Rainbow trout are also reared at this hatchery and are distributed into state waters.
