Thank you for seeking information on Choices for the Future.
We want the people of Montana to know that FWP takes the trust—and the fish and wildlife resources they have placed in our care—very seriously.
We have a great participatory process here in Montana, and that's the secret ingredient that's made our citizen-based fish and wildlife conservation such a successful public enterprise for more than 100 years.
Our job is to manage these spectacular resources for you.
We look forward to hearing from you in the coming weeks and months, and to learning more about the things you can tell us that will maintain the level of management you insist must be met.
Read a letter from Director Jeff Hagener on funding choices for FWP ( 78 KB).
The Licensing and Funding Advisory Council (LFAC) examined FWP's license system and funding cycle for fish and wildlife management. The aim of the council was to determine a pricing structure for hunting and fishing licenses that will provide a sufficient, fair and stable source of revenue for fish and wildlife management in Montana.
The Environmental Quality Council, or EQC, is an interim legislative committee taking public comment now on a draft bill that would generate enough fishing and hunting license revenue to support FWP through 2021.
With your interest in the future of fish and wildlife conservation in Montana, please read and comment on the EQC's draft bill.
Download and read the EQC's Draft Study Report ( 1.0 MB) and Draft Bill ( 1.0 MB). Email comments to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "HB 609 Licensing Study." Comment is open through August 16.
