Advisory Council Background

FWP appointed a 12-member advisory council to lead an effort to advise FWP on a long-term strategic plan for the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program (UGBEP); monitor program activities annually; and recommend appropriate rules for FWP to consider. Council membership includes upland game bird hunters, a chamber of commerce representative, conservationists, an upland game bird biologist, landowners, one of whom is enrolled in the Block Management program, and 2 state legislators.

Advisory Council Membership Application

FWP is seeking members to fill 3 vacant positions on the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program Citizens’ Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC is made up of 12 volunteers representing each FWP administrative region and various interests across the state.

The purpose of the council is to advise FWP on the maintenance of a long-term Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program strategic plan and to evaluate annual activities. Participation in the Council requires over-night travel and attending council meetings for two consecutive days in the spring and fall. Council members are appointed by FWP Director Martha Williams and serve 2 or 4-year terms. The next meeting will be March 23 and 24, 2020 in Helena, Montana.

The Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program serves Montana’s residents and visitors by working with landowners to enhance upland game bird habitats and public hunting opportunities.
