Wolverine Season To Close In Wolverine Management Unit 1 (December 21)
The hunting of male mountain lions in northcentral Montana hunting districts 411 and 412, in portions of Golden Valley, Fergus, and Judith Basin counties, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Saturday, December 19, 2009. (December 18)
The hunting of female mountain lions in western Montana Hunting District 270, a portion of Ravalli County, will close at one-half hour after sunset on Saturday, December 19, 2009. (December 18)
Montanans will have an extensive opportunity to review and comment on 2010-2011 hunting regulations proposals by going on online now or by attending one of 46 public meetings beginning in January. The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission accepted the proposals on Dec. 10. (December 18)

Migratory bird hunters are fortunate—they have several more weeks of hunting ahead of them. The seasons close in January in the Central Flyway and in the Pacific Flyway the general season closes Jan. 15. (December 04)

The general big game hunting season for deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goats closes Sunday, Nov. 29. That has some hunters with tags to fill looking for new areas to try their luck. (November 20)
With many of Montana's big game hunting seasons moving into the final week, it is a good time for hunters to review the proper ways to handle and transport wild meat. (November 20)

The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission has tentatively adopted a new rule for the sale of nonresident big game combination licenses that increases opportunities for resident and nonresident family members to hunt together. (November 17)
CORRECTION: The quota in WMU 2 was incorrectly listed as filled. 21 of 22 wolves have been taken. The WMU will still close as will the rest of the state ½ hour after sunset on November 16, 2009. (November 16)
When you hunt Montana you have the opportunity to take part in some of the finest hunting found anywhere. But each autumn, some individuals unwittingly or knowingly violate the state’s game laws. (October 30)
A new state habitat enhancement program is providing eastern Montana landowners incentives to extend their participation in the Conservation Reserve Program, a federal offering that in part improves wildlife habitat. (October 30)
Montana's bison hunt attracted 10,363 individual applicants for the either sex bison licenses for the Nov. 15 – Feb. 15, 2010 season, including 909 nonresidents. Of these applicants, 34 residents and two nonresidents were successful in the drawing. (October 30)
