Many of the lands managed by FWP are held under conservation easement, lease, or agreement with private land owners and may be managed for the benefit of Montana's wildlife or other natural or cultural resources. Therefore, users of this data should not infer that lands managed by FWP imply public access. For details about public access on FWP's managed lands please contact the appropriate FWP regional office. Regional office contact information can be found at http://fwp.mt.gov/insidefwp/department/hqregions.html.

Ending date: 06/11/2009

Process step:
Digitize boundaries using the COGO module of ArcInfo or using the digitizing tablet. The digitizing tablet was used for digitizing boundaries hand drawn on mylar overlays for 1:24000 scale 7.5 minute quads when no Certificate of Survey was available.
Process date: 12/1996
Process step:
Check line work, create polygon topology, attribute polygons, check label errors.
Process date: 04/1996
Process step:
Updated parcels based on FWP Lands Bureau tabular Oracle database.
Process date: 05/1997
Process step:
Updated parcels based on FWP Lands Bureau tabular Oracle database.
Process date: 01/1998
Process step:
Starting about March of 2001 coverages moved to Montana State Library NRIS for maintenance. GCDB now used to create takeoff points for certificates of survey and as snap features for entry of aliquot parts. DRGs used where no other digital information available. See SRCTYPE and COMMENT item or each parcel. Entered more parcels as part of maintenance and updates to existing parcels. All work done in State Plane Single Zone NAD83 feet coordinates.
Process date: 03/2001
Process step:
Parcels are added using two distinct methods:

1) An adjacent parcel whether a new addition to an existing parcel or a new parcel touching an existing parcel of a different management type are COGO'd or digitized directly into the coverage maintained in State Plane Single Zone NAD83 feet (master).

2) A new parcel not adjacent to an existing parcel is COGO'd into a new coverage alone and 'put' into the master coverage. For internal use and distribution the 'master' coverage is projected to Statep Plane Single Zone NAD83 meters and topology is rebuilt.
Process date: 07/2002
Process step:
Beginning in January 2005 NRIS staff began training FWP Field Services (Lands Bureau) staff to input boundaries using the COGO extension of ArcInfo Workstation.
Process date: 01/2005
Process step:
Imported coverage into ESRI personal geodatabase. Reviewed attributes against the FWP Lands Bureau tabular database and updated where necessary.
