Many of the lands managed by FWP are held under conservation easement, lease, or agreement with private land owners and may be managed for the benefit of Montana's wildlife or other natural or cultural resources. Therefore, users of this data should not infer that lands managed by FWP imply public access. Starting about March of 2001 coverages moved to Montana State Library NRIS for maintenance. GCDB now used to create takeoff points for certificates of survey and as snap features for entry of aliquot parts. DRGs used where no other digital information available. See SRCTYPE and COMMENT item or each parcel. Entered more parcels as part of maintenance and updates to existing parcels. All work done in State Plane Single Zone NAD83 feet coordinates.

Parcels are added using two distinct methods:

1) An adjacent parcel whether a new addition to an existing parcel or a new parcel touching an existing parcel of a different management type are COGO'd or digitized directly into the coverage maintained in State Plane Single Zone NAD83 feet (master).

2) A new parcel not adjacent to an existing parcel is COGO'd into a new coverage alone and 'put' into the master coverage. For internal use and distribution the 'master' coverage is projected to Statep Plane Single Zone NAD83 meters and topology is rebuilt.
