Abstract:
This layer depicts U.S. Forest Service (USFS) ecological subsections, which were used to define potential geographic focus areas for the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (MTFWP) Comprehensive Fish and Wildlife Conservation Strategy (CFWCS) effort started in 2005. See the following USFS website for further explanation of the ecological subsections; http://www.fs.fed.us/land/pubs/ecoregions/. The USFS source layer can be downloaded from Montana Natural Resource Information Service (NRIS) at http://nris.mt.gov/gis/gisdatalib/showDownloads.aspx?covdesc=Ecoregions%20of%20Montana&covid=1810. Each subsection was ranked using both quantitative and qualitative criteria and using the ranks revised based on peer review and expert opinion. For methodology relating to this ranking please visit the Montana Comprehensive Fish and Wildlife Management Strategy website at http://fwp.mt.gov/specieshabitat/strategy/default.html.
