Montana stream routes created from the 1:100,000 named streams from the Pacific Northwest River Reach Files (PNWRF3) in western Montana and the National Hydrography Dataset in eastern Montana. Additional streams have been added on an as needed basis from a higher resolution (1:24,000 scale) where fisheries data exist. This layer serves as the base hydrography for the Montana Fisheries Information System (MFISH) maintained by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP).
Purpose:

Process step:
Routes based on the 100K NHD layer using the named streams. The measures are in miles and start at the mouth of the stream and increase to the headwaters. Additional streams have been added on an as needed basis from the 1:24000K NHD layer.
