Abstract:
This layer represents spatially coincident priority conservation areas in Montana. Priority conservation areas delineated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Serice, Partners for Fish and Wildlife, Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, & Parks, and the Nature Conservancy were included in the spatial intersection.
Purpose:
Display and/or analysis of spatially coincident priority conservation areas in Montana as represented by several agenices and organizations with a mandate for species and habitat conservation.

Process step:
The two CFWCS Focus Areas (Terrestrial and Aquatic) were merged using ArcToolbox\General\Merge tool.
Process date: 01/2008
Process step:
The merged terretsrial and aquatic CFWCS layer was intersected with the USFWS, Partners for Fish and Wildlife, and The Nature Conservancy Priority Conservation Areas to determine the spatially coincident areas using the ArcToolbox\Analysis Tools\Overlay\Intersect tool. An XY Tolerance of 500 meters was used to eliminate small "splinter" ploygons.
Process date: 01/2008
Process contact:
Process step:
Temporary dissolve field added (populated with same value in all rows) and all polygons dissolved using this field and the ArcToolbox\Geeralization\Dissolve tool.
Process date: 01/2008
Process step: Deleted dissolve field.
