FWP appointed a 12-member advisory council to lead an effort to advise FWP on a 10-year strategic plan for the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program (UGBEP); monitor program activities annually; and recommend appropriate rules for FWP to consider. Council membership includes upland game bird hunters, a chamber of commerce representative, conservationists, an upland game bird biologist, landowners, one of whom is enrolled in the Block Management program, and 2 state legislators.
The Council will participate in the effort to identify, define, and make recommendations for the implementation of a long-term strategic plan.
The UGBEP Citizens' Advisory Council submitted their final recommendations to the Director and the FWP Commission after reviewing more than 50 public comments on the UGBEP Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan was endorsed by the FWP Commission on July 14, 2011.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) is seeking a member of a local Chamber of Commerce to fill one vacancy on the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program Citizens’ Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC is made up of 12 volunteers representing various interests across the state, including a Chamber of Commerce representative.
The purpose of the council is to advise FWP on the maintenance of a 10-year Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program (UGBEP) strategic plan and to evaluate annual UGBEP activities. Participation in the Council requires over-night travel and attending council meetings for two consecutive days in the spring and fall. Council members are appointed by FWP Director Martha Williams and serve 2 or 4-year terms. The next meeting will be May 6 and 7 in Helena, Montana.
FWP anticipates more vacancies at the end of 2019 and interested persons may apply now in advance to these openings.
The Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program (UGBEP) serves Montana’s residents and visitors by working with landowners to enhance upland game bird habitats and public hunting opportunities.
