About this Guide

The Montana Animal Field Guide is the product of a partnership between Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and the Natural Heritage Program. The Natural Heritage Program was established by the Montana State Legislature in 1983, the program is located in the Montana State Library, where it is part of the Natural Resource Information System.

General Description
The information for this species is not complete. We hope to have it available soon.

Migration
In the Bozeman area, normal migration periods are June 3 to 15 and September 1 to 25, with the fall peak on September 10.

Ecology
Near Fortine, the numbers were reported to be much reduced from 1940 to 1975.

Reproductive Characteristics
Common Nighthawks nest from mid-June to mid-August. Near Fortine, eggs have been found from June 26 to July 26.
