There are many types of violations that Montana FWP Wardens encounter in their day-to-day activities in addition to the "poaching" and hunting-related categories. The table below shows the number of citations issued for these other types of violations.
Montana's game wardens write an average of 4,500 violation tickets per year. They also issue over one-third that number in written warnings—more than 1,600 a year on average. A statistic you might not expect to find is the number of verbal warnings provided by wardens. An average of over 6,200 verbal warnings are given to outdoor enthusiasts every year. The table below lists these statistics, as well as the number of angler and hunter contacts by our wardens, averaging over 80,300 contacts per year.
