Discover Montana's Ecosystems Video Contest

A video contest for Montana schools

Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks and the Office of Public Instruction announce the first annual student Outdoor Report competition for school age students. Contestants will produce a 90-second video Outdoor Report featuring a conservation story about one of Montana’s four major ecosystems types.

Each entry must have a conservation theme and may feature stories about people doing conservation work or about the wild animals and plants on the Montana landscape. For examples of Outdoor Reports consult FWP’s video website.

Who is eligible?
Montana middle and high school students from private, public and home schools may submit entries for the contest.
How should the Outdoor Report be submitted?
Outdoor Reports must be full-quality/full-frame (720 x 480 pixel) NTSC, recorded on DVD. Each entry must be no longer than 90 seconds in length and must include the proper registration forms, waivers, compliance statements, and releases. Also, entries must include a script. Submissions must be postmarked by May 30, 2008 or hand delivered to an FWP office by 5:00 pm on that date. Entries may not be submitted electronically.

What About People?
We encourage submissions that include people doing conservation work. People under the age of 18 need waivers that give express permission to use them in the production. All photographs, names, and/or other pertinent material included in the Outdoor Report must have permission from the source. Submission release forms may be found below.

All participants must knowingly agree to appear in the entries and must complete and sign a release form—no exceptions. Entries without releases will be disqualified.

What are the prizes?
The winning student outdoor reports will be aired on FWP’s video website. Winning participants will also receive a subscription to Montana Outdoors, and a Montana Ecosystem’s T-shirt.
