DescriptionLyndel Meikle will present “Who Brought the First Cattle to Montana”. Who should get credit for bringing cattle to Montana? Was it the Spanish, fur traders, hopeful immigrants, or a future president of the United States? And where did the cattle come from; the East, the Southwest, Hawaii? Learn the answer to these questions and more.

Lyndel Meikle is a retired Park Ranger at Grant-Kohrs Ranch, blacksmith and historian. Her career spans four decades with assignments in Yosemite NP, Fort Point National Historic Site and Alcatraz. Lyndel’s first campfire program at Yosemite NP, forty-three years ago, became an accordion-accompanied sing along when her slide projector failed to work. She has written for Montana, The Magazine and the Helena Independent Record, and has several books published about Montana history.
