DescriptionDo plants have superhero qualities? Spike E Prickles, a cactus, thinks they do. From protecting themselves from fire and voracious insects to surviving in hostile environments, students will learn about the impressive range of adaptive abilities plants have developed with the help of the book “Amazing Plant Powers” by Loreen Leedy and Andrew Schuerger. Students will also enjoy a hike to look for some of these superpowered plants

Please have participants bring a water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen and dress appropriately for the weather; please no flip flops. Please meet at the Visitor Center. Due to liability issues we must have at least one additional adult (besides our instructors) per 10 participants. We strongly encourage parents to sign up for a program to share in these interesting and fun learning experiences. Program schedules and registration forms are available at the Makoshika State Park Visitor Center.
