Travelers' Rest State Park
|Description||Indian Ledger Art was a method of using imagery to record important knowledge and events such as success in hunting or war. Trekker Kid participants will learn about this important art form and have the opportunity to create their own ledger art. There will also be a collection of DG House¿s artwork on display in the Visitor Center.
DG House is a contemporary Native American artist and one of six artists selected to participate in the Montana Preservation Alliance 2016 Reimagine Montana Artist-in-Residence program. As an Artist-in-Residence, House will spend four weeks exploring Travelers' Rest State Park and then translating her observations into meaningful new artwork which reflects on the site and its cultural meaning.
The residency program is funded through The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Park Service (NPS) joint Imagine Your Parks Initiative to celebrate both the 50th anniversary of the NEA and the 100-year centennial of the NPS.
