Park Groundskeeper

Description of Work

Under general remote supervision performs a variety of tasks for daily operation of state parks and fishing access sites.

Examples of Duties

Performs park maintenance and operations by collecting fees, taking reservations, cleaning facilities such as latrines, toilets, showers, group-use areas; does landscape maintenance such as watering, mowing, garbage collection, weed spraying or cutting; performs light equipment maintenance. These positions are seasonal or temporary.


Must have working knowledge of routine park operation and maintenance. Some skill in operating small equipment such as mowers and trimmers is required. Must be able to work alone, must be able to account for funds collected, and must be able to follow verbal instructions. Must have the ability to work under adverse weather conditions and must be able to routinely lift and carry approximately 50 lbs. Must have a valid Montana driver's license. Many of these positions require employee to supply his/her own pickup truck for maintenance activities and travel trailer for housing.
